President Hugo Chavez Visits The UN

The Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez visited the United Nations on Wednesday, September 20, 2006 and made some comments about U.S. President, George W. Bush. He called the President a "devil" and also stated that the podium still smelled like "sulfur". What were your thoughts about Mr. Chavez' comments towards President George W. Bush? For the majority of us, seeing María Celeste Arrarás on television means it's time to shut up and watch the noticias. First on Univision's Primer Impacto and currently on Telemundo's Al Rojo Vivo. She has become synonymous with quality journalism and continues to make us all proud as Latinas. La Puertoriquena, was chosen as one of 20 powerful women leaders in the US, along with Queen Latifah, Meredith Viera and 17 others.

Musica News: American Music Awards 2006

The nominees for the American Music Awards 2006 were revealed on September 19th at a press conference in Beverly Hills. Twenty awards will be given out, each representing the best in Pop/Rock, Country, Soul/Rhythm & Blues, Rap/Hip Hop, Latin, Alternative, Adult Contemporary and Contemporary Inspirational music. Mariah Carey, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback and The Black Eyed Peas lead with three nominations each.

In the LATIN MUSIC category, the nominees for FAVORITE ARTIST are:

Daddy Yankee

Shakira

Don Omar

Once Again The Yanks Win The AL East Title

The New York Yankees celebrated last night as they clinched their way into the playoffs. Although they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays last night 3-2, they won yet another division title. This is their 9th consecutive AL East title, all thanks to the Boston Red Sox who lost 8-2 against the Minnesota Twins.

It looks like OCTOBER is going to be a very interesting month in beisbol and for New York. So, are there any YANKEES fans out there? What are your thought about the YANKEES winning yet ANOTHER division title? What are your predictions for the playoffs? Will the Yankees make it to the World Series? I think we are going to be looking at Burgers very diferente this fall.

In one of the most anticipated peliculas of the year Fast Food Nation, is based on the best seller book about the fast food industry, our obsession with it, and how it effects the people who are part of it.

The ensemble cast includes several prominent Latinos including Oscar- nominee Catalina Sadina Moreno (Maria Full of Grace), Wilmer Valderrama, Ana Claudia Talamcon, Luis Guzman y Esai Morales.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month With Cantos Latinos


PBS teams up with Ballet Hispanico,The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, En Foco, Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College, Caribbean Culture Center, The Americas Socuety, The Mexican Cultural Institute, The Jose Union Dance Company, Association of Hispanic Arts, Inc. , Clemente Soto Velez Educational Center, Raices Museum of Latin Music, Society of the Educational Arts, Thalia Spanish Theatre and El Museo del Barrio to present CANTOS LATINOS. PBS will be playing different types of films and documentaries about our Hispanic Culture.

Don't miss this FRIDAY, 9/22 from 9-10pm, WIDE ANGLE: AN HONEST CITIZEN which is a documetary that follows Maria Cristina Chirolla, the head of the Colombian attorney general office who struggles to fight for the reach of drug money in her country.

The Amazing Mets Clinch National League East Title

The New York Mets clinched the NL East for the first time since 1988 winning 4-0 against the Florida Marlins. The two heroes of the night were el boricua, Jose Valentin who homered twice and the pitcher Steve Traschel who went for 6 1/3 scoreless innings.

There was a lot of celebrating and champagne EVERYWHERE as The New York Mets celebrated with each other and their fans. They are now on their way to the playoffs.

As some you know may have noticed, When JLo appeared at the VMAs she talked about a new channel called MTV Tr3s. Igual ha Latweeno.com, MTV has noticed that we are a very significant group that deserve nuestro propio channel.

MTV Tr3s, aims to really unite English & Spanish Speaking latinos through Music and Community.
