Jennie Ortega on ABC's One Life To Live
La Boricua de Brooklyn, Jennie Ortega performed her hit single, Crowded on the set of ABC's daytime soap, One Life To Live.
Jennie Ortega is an 18 year old who received a major recording deal with Hollywood Records after her first real recording, Got What It Takes wound up in the soundtrack and in the movie, Love Don't Cost A Thing. Her album, No Place Like Brooklyn will be making debut very soon. Look out for this talented LATINA!!
ABC making efforts to reach out to Latinos
It's great to see at least one of the Mainstream television Network is making a visible effort to accommodate it's large Latino viewership. This years ALMA awards were a great example of the influence and importance of us Latinos to the mainstream media. With the addition of Ugly Betty ABC to it's line up we'll be watching.

Deportes: Baloncesto Without Borders
Basketball without Borders is an NBA sponsored program which gives young people the opportunity to participate in a global basketball development program. It is a community outreach program which promotes leadership,education,sportmanship,and healthy living with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. Basketball without Borders began in 2001 and the camp has featured many former and current NBA players. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) selects the young players (ages 19 & under) based on their basketball skills, leadership abilities and dedication to the sport of
basketball.
Basketball without Borders already began this year and is scheduled to be held in four different continents. From June 8-11 the camp was held in Shanghai, China and from June 30- July 3rd it was held in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following are being held in July and September:
- Basketball without Borders Americas (San Juan, Puerto Rico, July 17-20).
- Basketball without Borders Africa (Johannesburg, South Africa, Septmber 6-10).

Carlos Ponce to Co-Host Miss Universe pageant
El Boricua , Carlos Ponce will be co hosting the Miss Universe pageant, this Sunday on NBC. Carlos will be joined by Nancy O'Dell as co-host and many celebrities guest judges including Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Carson Kressly. It's gonna be hard to focus on the contestants when the host will be so CALIENTE!

Deportes: Latina Athletes- Lorena Ochoa: A Latin Legend in the Making
Latina atheletes have been underrespresented in the sports world as well as in the media but do not be fooled there are many LATINA athletes out there that you have probably not even heard of. Many Latinas have excelled in their sports and have served as role models for other Latinas and women.
Every week LATWEENO.COM will feature a LATINA athlete of the week. We are very proud to show off some of our own orgullo. We hope you enjoy this segment.

Age: 23
Sport: Golf
Hometown: Guadalajara, Mexico
Lorena Ochoa began to play golf at a very young age. She use to follow her father around the golf club and soon enough, she began competing at the age of six. In 2001, Lorena became the first golfer and youngest recipient of the National Sports Award which was presented to her by the President of Mexico, Vicente Fox. She has been in the LGPA tour for three years now. She won rookie of the year in 2003 and has had two career victories in the LGPA tour. During her off season she dedicates her time to helping other young golfers and makes appearances around Mexico.
